Chicago Roofing Contractors Going Green
Long before when man understood the importance of roofing, they had a simple thatch from vegetation. Straw, seaweed, clay, earth etc were the materials mainly used for the construction of roofing. Now the most popular are the shingles and tiles, where the roofing material are made more durable, fire resistant, weather friendly etc. With the use of expertise from roofing contractors in Chicago, one can adorn a beautiful roof, above the building.
Centuries before, in many Asian countries bamboo, coconut tree leaves and the bark of certain trees was used. The bamboo was used for the structure of the building and the outer layer. The bamboo stems are split and turned alternatively and placed on the top. The thick bark of certain trees are peeled off and placed on the roof in some places. Even now people living in developing and under developed countries often build a roof above their heads, with simple organic or bio – based materials.
The new roofing materials, which also include synthetic materials, may be of good to the consumers, in the angle of protection and durability, but it may cause environmental hazards.
The governments as well as the business professionals are coming out with the green initiation. The world now is completely aware of the seriousness of increased pollution and global warming and hence the demand for organic roofing is also on the rise.

The cooler the temperature less would be the demand on the air conditioners. This in turn reduces the usage of electricity, and there by saving the resources.
Johns Manville’s JMCleanBond roofing system is also combined with Environmental Liquid membrane System (ELMS) of Green Products LLC to a single roofing system with the benefits of both the materials. John Manville’s JMCleanBond SBS fire resistant roofing membrane does not need any kind of heat or solvent based adhesives for installation, which makes it a non energy consuming substance.
Environmental Liquid membrane System (ELMS) is a USDA certified biological soy polymer membrane. It is completely water proof so it could be used in areas of buildings where there may be pooling of water.
